The SD58 Arts Festival was a big hit in the Nicola Valley. And we were lucky to have a student exhibition of visual art in the Courthouse Arts Gallery, arranged by Jackie Stibbards, Shannon Dunn, and Linda Suzuki.
Several art classes visited the Gallery, giving the students the opportunity to enjoy each others' work.

Patricia Peters loves to paint in the Nicola Valley, and has shown her work before in our Courthouse Art Gallery several years ago.
Patricia has exhibited many times. Her work can be seen at patriciapeters.ca.
Cathy Stewart and Beverley Biddulph have shown pieces of their work at a variety of art shows, including through the Canadian Federation of Artists. Their beautiful work can be seen now at the Courthouse Arts Gallery on Nicola Avenue, in Merritt. Check out photos of the hanging of the work by the Artists and members of the Nicola Valley Arts Council.
And of the Opening, with artists and visitors from the valley, surrounding regions, and Councillors from our City of Merritt.

Leonard George...a Retrospective

Guest Dot Spahan is displaying her pine needle basket work, and mini teepees.
Leonard has collected his artwork from private collections all over the valley for this show. He is also displaying work from his personal collection, and brand new work.
Leonard is putting on a Stencil and Acrylic Workshop June 15th, 2-4pm.
$15 NVAC Members, $20 Non Members
The Opening Reception was on Thursday June 8th, and the food served was bannock, salmon patties, fruit and soapberry juice, by Jean Saddleman.
Willard Wallace joined us, drumming songs for the event.
Art Walk Exhibition!
Bruce Walter of Boredfoot Photography.
Bruce has been a photographer since 1976. He spends hours in his digital darkroom and hones his skills daily. Bruce has won awards for his photography and works with Marko Jalava at Smudges Art Shoppe to produce his high quality finished product. Bruce will exhibit two works for our Art Walk Artists' Show for August. Go to Bruce Walter's page for more info
Ellen Miller of Fused Glass
Ellen left behind her Glass Hive Studio in Abbotsford when she moved to Merritt last year. She moved her kilns and skids of glass along with her family and continues with her fused glass art in the Nicola Valley...
Ellen's work will be at the Courthouse Arts Gallery until July 31st.

On canvases, wood, and cupboard doors, from large to small.
We are gathered a corner of Bev's family photos and paintings, palettes and mementos from Bev's past. And we know Bev has many friends in the valley, with lots of stories about Bev, her work and passions. So, come on in and share stories.
And enjoy Bev's art work!
