Community Arts Events

Most community events are cancelled or postponed

during the Covid 19 Physical Distancing.

However, there are online events taking their place, so stay tuned!

How are we involved with the City's Winter Blues Fest?

NVCAC Makerspace Day for all ages!

What is a makerspace?

a place in which people with shared interests... (like ART!) can gather to work on projects while sharing ideas, equipment, and knowledge.

We like having our Saturday afternoon Makerspaces (usually for adults) at the old Courthouse west side.

There's lots of art supplies.

But we have been invited to the Civic Centre that day for our all ages Makerspace.

Stay tuned for our plans...

Based on a true story “The Grizzlies” is about the determination and resilience of a group of Inuit youth in a small Arctic community.  First-time teacher Russ Sheppard moves north for a job at a local school in Kugluktuk, a town struggling with one of the highest suicide rates in North America.  He is shocked and overwhelmed by the numerous social issues facing the youth and introduces a lacrosse program in the school.  Although the program is at first met with skepticism and resistance, Russ’ commitment begins to win the trust of the students, and together they form the Grizzlies lacrosse team.  Through the sport, the youth find a vital outlet for their emotions, and the team creates a sense of pride and purpose in themselves and their community.
